secret / hidden menu BMW 5 Series E60 E61 How to access ?

You can access the secret menu with the resetbutton on the right side of your speedometer and the functions of the menu will be displayed on the little screen between speedometer and engine revolution.

At first you have to turn on the power of ignition key or start the engine. But when the engine has been started you will not be able to use every function of the hidden menu.

Now push the resetbutton until you see „01. ..." on your display and repeat pushing until you reach the figure 19 to unlock the hidden menu. To unlock you have to wait a short moment after reaching the 19 and now the display jumps to the figure right of the point ("19.1). There you have to repeat pushing to enter the digit sum of the last figures of your vehicle identification number. So for example if these are 12345 you have to enter 15 (1+2+3+4+5). After finishing this you can use the whole menu.

If you want to go back to the main menu you just have to push the resetbutton for some seconds.

Here is an overview which functions you can use with the hidden menu:

01 = vehicle identification number/ speedometer-figure /production date/ software version
02 = Test of the Instruments (not working while the motor is running)
03 = meaning is not known
04 = fuel consumption
05 = residual amount of consumption + range
06 = fuel level
07 = temperature of engine coolant / temperature outside / engine revolution
08 = real and speedometer-shown vehicle speed
09 = battery voltage
10 = meaning is not known
11 = units for time/ distance / temperature / consumption
12 = Information of your last trip
13 = testing sound signals
14 = event and fault recorder / error memory
15 + 16 +17 +18 = meaning not known
19 = Unlock hidden menu
20 = correcting of consumptions figures
21 = Reset (Please don't choose)

I unclocked the system and accidentally turned the car off, now i cant access this menu. how can i lock the system or access again to the menu?
