I still find it ridiculous that BMW don't let us see the coolant temperature without going through hoops via the secret menu. They could have put on on the dash with a green zone so people don't panic about the high temperatures they can run at. Then have amber on the higher side for when the dpf is regenerating.

Useful video 👍 do you have a list of all the codes that the numbers are associated with?

I find it so very strange that some BMW's in the e87/e90 era do not have an oil and coolant temperature gauge in the instrument cluster, especially with a "performance" model like the 130i... I want to assemble one in my e87 with either oil temp or both in the near future, but I'm still figuring out which clusters from which models fit and are programmable in the e87. I think the 135i one fits but that one is almost nowhere to be found for a reasonable price (and with km/h counter). Have you ever thought about doing that by any chance?

hi George grat vidz better explained than what have been already done on subjet. Can you make a video about a bonnet hood stuck on e81/87 ? Look like a topic with not much content on web and a lot of people have the issue... including me right now! My main problem is that i have the air plastic trim behind the grill and cant access with the screwdriver method, and dont want to screw up

The reason BMW dropped coolant temp was following the introduction of electric water pumps. These pumps are constantly switching on/off and changing speeds depending on engine load. This results in what appears as widely fluctuating coolant temperatures on a gauge . These are normal, but the phenomenon caused owner panic. So BMW deleted coolant temp from the dash and introduced oil temp instead which gives a more consistent reading.
