That’s not Miquella. It’s a new character called Messmer the impaler. Miyazaki stated in a new interview that we’re actually following in Miquellas footsteps and basically following him.

This new Mesmer guy could be another radagon/marika situation where this is miquella’s alter ego.

Or this could be another child of marika entirely. There are butterflies in the game that represent the children of marika. The Aeonia butterfly is malenia, the nascent butterfly is miquella (nascent meaning something new or young and miquella was cursed with eternal youth), and the third butterfly is the smoldering butterfly, which we always find around fires. And they look a lot like Mesmer’s fireish attacks. If that is the case, then Fromsoftware has been teasing a third child since the beginning.
