Design a DATING APP with me | Persona and competitor research for a UX portfolio project

Welcome to the 2nd episode of “Building a portfolio”- A step by step series of building a UX portfolio project from idea to a fully flashed case study to present in your portfolio.

In this episode I'm going over my user persona research and looking at dating apps for the competitor research.
This is the second step of my UX design process. I'll review existing dating apps like Tinder and Hinge and look for similar apps to the product I want to design and build.

I'm SUPER excited about this series! In the next episode, I’ll figure out the full user flow and features list and start wireframing my app!

Hi Yaeli, I absolutely loved your video! It's so refreshing to see someone talk about UX in a practical, hands-on way rather than using "theory" language. You really showed how to do UX, and it was incredibly helpful. I do have one question, though, and I’d really appreciate it if you could answer: where did you find those statistics on your competitors? For example, the Hinge data you mentioned—"44% of daters, 72% more likely, " etc. It would mean a lot if you could share this info! Thank you so much!

It would be interesting for a dating app to be able prove your authenticy of like your age face with machine learning and tech. Now with face detectors this could be achieved I believe.Because most of the time us girls get into trouble when finding love if encountered by a cat fish or old creep. 😅 Some consider it as a playground for new catches of lonely girls and even guys.
