In this episode of Rebuild Rescue we move onto the other engine to see if it will have a better chance at firing up! Before testing this engine, we check the fuel pressure running to it to make sure the engine is receiving enough fuel, as well as testing the compression of each cylinder. After running those tests, we take the 401 back outside and try to fire it up again, will it start this time or will we hang our heads in defeat once again? Find out in this episode of Rebuild Rescue!

I’m unnecessarily invested in the repair of a plane in a country thousands of miles away and I don’t regret it.

Let’s fly, safely but I would love to see this plane fixed up inside and out and flying again. Take the old owner for a ride again.

That man is a treasure. He honored his deal and he was so overjoyed to hear the old girl start up. I hope the friendship with him continues.

I have watched MANY "fix-it-up" shows over the years as an avid mechanic. However, this has been one of my favorites. I love the owner honoring his commitment and your dedication to the project. Well done brother! Let her fly for sure! I am going to buy some merch right now to support. Good luck.

After you get both engines running I would love to see a restoration on the interior and exterior. I am so invested into this series, I love to see old neglected things be brought back to life

RIP Sam. Horrible accident and thoughts and prayers for his friends and family and everyone at Rescue Rebuild.

From an old Naval aviator, I gotta say, I was absolutely thrilled when that engine fired… your project is awesome, the man who offered this 401 to you is a man of integrity and honor. Congratulations and and I look forward to the day this a/c cuts through the sky again where it belongs! MAKE HER FLY!

The fact that you say it’s “ours” as opposed to “yours or mine”, makes it that much easier to be invested in. I could never afford my own airplane even though I took pilot lessons many years ago. Life gets in the way for too many of us. Through you one of my dreams is coming true. Thank you and let’s fly it!!

I have been doing this kind of thing for decades. I have gotten hundreds of free vehicles in my lifetime...and some of them ran after some wrenching. You are on a much grander scale here. Great series! I can also relate to those individuals who will try anything to undercut, or try and screw you over. Thankfully, the gentleman you are dealing with is true to his word. You have earned a fan.

If it were me, I would gladly give Sam some $ for his integrity, seems like a great guy. Congrats on getting the left engine running.

Hearing the engine sputters to life brings a huge smile to my face! Incredible! Hope to see this plane fly eventually!

Commercial A&P here. Depending on what you find when you start to inspect it the cost to repair this aircraft can, and likely will, approach the cost of purchasing a flying example. I hope your spar ends up passing the inspection! The main thing I'd be worrying about is corrosion, and any damage done to the engines from sitting so long and not being preserved properly. Remember the saying: "buy the engines, get the aircraft for free!"

That being said, there is something magical about bringing an old bird like this back to life. I'll be looking forward to seeing continued progress on this in the coming months.

Seeing that engine come to life strangly made me emotional. I hate when old things get thrown out and it makes me so happy to see that old bird run.

“The Phoenix” sounds like an awesome name for it and it’d be great to see it spread its wings and take to flight once again. Let the rescue continue and Let’s fly.

The reason we love your videos is because there is no big production, no super cuts to not show mistakes, and no million dollar shop talking about a budget car build only costing $30, 000. You hit walls, get frustrated and work the problem like those of us who are not hyper knowledgeable but mechanically inclined. It is comforting for you to vocalize and go through the same process even those of us who just build cars do. So yes we are invested in your work because we are invested in our work. You celebrate, we celebrate.

23:15 YOU'RE NOT PRIMING THE ENGINE, you're just turning the pumps on, the primer is the toggle in the middle. there's no way it'll start if you don't prime it. Try priming the other engine and watch it start. I really hope you see this.

This channel is the embodiment of all the things I love. I'm a YouTube University mechanic. I watch a lot of automotive repair videos. I also rece try started on my private pilot certificate. Your channel is the perfect combination of both of those things. Getting my A&P will hopefully come in a few years.

This made me tear up with joy. If you’re gonna get her flying again, and gonna name her the phoenix, she’ll need a wrap and colour change to match it. I’m so glad you got this going. Now… Let’s fly!

That was awesome getting the "Clear Prop" from Jimmy! As a pilot myself I could see and hear the angst from the owner, I can only imagine how it must have felt to watch something you used to enjoy sitting and wasting away. However, you could tell he was happy it was going to someone who he figures will restore it and enjoy it.

It brought a huge smile to my face when that engine roared back to life. That plane needs to be back in the air. Let’s fly! (And Phoenix sounds like one hell of a good name)
