In this video I show how to get the most out of the improved conditional formatting feature for data labels in the August 2022 Power BI update. It gives you more control over the formatting of data labels and using a little trick I show you how to conditionally hide data labels.

Great video again Bas! Just one question.
I struggle a lot with the data lables that are inside of a steep line, just like the one in your video that was shown when the threshold parameter was set on 100.000. My question is, how you deal with that?

I don't like the way it looks and sometimes it's a bit unprofessional to look at.

A cool tip for 8:35, @How to Power BI. If you hit Ctrl + D, you will highlight the word and its next instances when you keep hitting Ctrl + D. This allows you to easily change the name of a variable and where it is referenced all at once.

This is fantastic Bas. I just had the perfect use case and implemented on a recently built report. One further feature I added was to make the threshold dynamic by working out the absolute max in the report and dividing it by 2. In this way the conditional labels are effective even when the chat gets filtered/cross highlighted.

Such a shame that the backgrounds can't be done yet though - hopefully soon! Microsoft should hire you to fill their backlog with the most useful improvements!
