The Kia EV5, electric medium SUV was originally due to launch in June, but some teething issues triggered a four month delay.

But now it’s back and it’s caused a splash by launching with pricing aimed directly at Australia’s most popular electric vehicle, the Tesla Model Y.

There are four models in the line-up and here we’re checking out the Earth, the cheaper of two dual motor models.

Rear seats fold in 2 sections only, no 7 seat option, the car is pretty much expensive as a tesla model y with 7 seats :( it has a boxy design, which might cut some of the viewing angles. I expected at least a 3 section folding rear seat..

Kia have slipped up here I think. It should be 800V, the range could be better, the interior plastics look low rent and there doesn't appear to be a rear load cover.
The new Model Y comes out in a few months as well.

"Better late than never"? No. Kia Australia shouldn't have rushed this to market with these 3 model specs - as clearly by your review they have had several issues getting this car satisfactory for the Aussie market and here we are with yet more things missed? Have they missed these in the shamozzle to fix the ride steering issues? Namely 1/ No cargo rear blind. Essential for safety and security (breaks ins looking for things left in the boot) 2/ Base model is the only extended range with 2WD ( the longest range possible). And that base model has that silly front bench passenger seat fixed to the floor! (You can't adjust it up or down! - not even manually!) 3/ No heat pump for Southern Aussie climates (where half of us live) to save EV range in Winter. I am going to sit it out for the better designed (and more "usual") configured interior of the EV3. See if it's big enough for my needs. Though this misses out on the new Lithium FePo4 battery tech. Pity. The Ev5 looked so good on paper. Can Kia Australia please address the family practical issues? Cargo blind, Adjustable height in front passenger side (base model) for starters - which could be easy "add on" options and accessories.... surely?!

Sorry but why would you bother when you get more value from Chinese cars or a much better product from the Y?

Can they make a normal car? These SUVs are getting a bit boring.... EV3 is plain ugly and dysfunctional. Why would you buy crammed car with no trunk that is rattling as broken brand are just broken concept
