I worked in the tech field for longer than I care to say. This gentlemen is giving you some pretty good advice.
In simpler terms... if you buy a new phone/tablet every 1-3 yrs. you should charge it at any speed you see fit but if you keep your device for 4-5+ yrs. you should never fast or wireless charge your device at all.

I downloaded a Battery Charge Alarm app to holler up once my phone's battery charges upto 90%! Simple and effective.🤷🏻‍♂️

Oppo just showed the 125W fast charging in action.
7 minutes for 50% on a 4000mah battery

I think Samsung's fast charging tech is well "fast" as well as stays the coolest while charging. And sony's new charging mode is quite amazing I wanna see it on every android next year.

youre right dast charging increases heat production through higher currents BUT theres one more effect which occurs even if this heating is neglected. the so called lithium plating alway occurs with high charging rates. that problem is much harder to solve and part of current research :D

OPPO stated that its 45-watt charging degrades the battery 3x quicker than 15-watt charging. However, if you use fast-charging as you are supposed to, that is, when you need a top-up fast, then there should be less impact. This means you are at say 20% and you fast-charge to 70%. Most of the damage to the battery cycle count is charging from 80-100% and that is why Apple and Sony have software to moderate the charge (trickle), though better to stop at 80% if you can. Slow-charge, when you are not in a hurry, is a good rule. I think Samsung only charges to 90% (reservoir) when it says it is full as all the devices I tested I could never get 100% capacity whereas other OEMs I did (Sony and Pixel), so that is a great way to force consumers to have better battery management.

Many teens keep their phone under 2-years so are not bothered about degradation and they pass on that problem to the next user. It is similar to your car, if you look after it, you will get the best from it.

I have a Realme X2 pro since 6 months charging at 50w. Full charge in 30 mns. Basically I plug it 10 mns twice a day and I'm good to go. The battery do not heat this way and it is a much better charging habit than charging all night up to 100%.
Best battery charging range is indeed 20%-80% for longevity and fast charging allow you to do so.
Whatever charging speed, you are responsible to use it accordingly for your battery best longevity.

I have seen comments where references were made to battery health, and assigning a percentage as compared to when the battery was new. How is it possible to test a phone's battery in this way?

Very useful video thanks. As you mention there is a lot of concern and theories on fast charging vs battery life. I'd trust your informed view over the hundreds of various forum posts claiming all manner of 'facts'...

exactly what you said...battery heat is the only reason why I don't use fast charging...I rather use my older charger without any problems

I think dual batteries reduce the internatal resistance rather than not charging at the same rate?

OPPO VOOC and OnePlus Dash/Warp do not release heat at all and charges fast at the same time. Even the latest AirVooc and Warp wireless charging at 30&40W do not have much heat at all. In this case, they should not have many detrimental effects.

So should I use slow chargers to prolong my phone or just use fast

I never use super fast charger i only use just the "fast charger". After 2 yrs of using my phone the battery life is still at 98%. I only charge until 85% and i also charge as can. That's the reason my battery is still strong.

Actually super fast charge like 120watt, 90watt, 65watt, etc
Is safe for battery depends on smartphone implementation if smartphone has a good implementation the super fast charge is safe for your battery but if the smartphone has a bad implementation it will really bad for your battery and something bad will happen
Besides the heat factor when charging can also cause the battery to be damaged

People are really ignorant. Fast charging and/or discharging destroys lithium ion batteries.
