Honestly, she was already dying. It was probably her last attempt at giving her husband someone to be with after she’s gone so that he doesn’t loose himself to grief.

As a former NICU resuscitation nurse most of the comments are correct. The fetus/baby is too young to survive, mainly because of the lungs. They are literally just buds at 19 weeks and the trachea is too small to get the smallest endotracheal tube into it. Also at that stage the skin is so fragile it literally falls apart. The youngest baby I’ve seen born that we were able to intubate was 22 weeks and that baby didn’t survive more than a couple weeks due to bleeding in the brain. The brain like everything else at that age is super fragile and prone to bleeding with any stress. And being on life support when you’re only half way done cooking is very stressful.

I appreciate maternal sacrifice, but having a child after being diagnosed with cancer is stupid. Just as malignant cells can end up anywhere in your body, they can end up in your baby's body too! Being already in stage 4, the cancer had metastasized, so enormous chances of giving birth to a child with cancer.
Why don't doctors talk about this?!

The youngest infant to survive preterm birth was 21 weeks. A lot of infants die or live on some kind of sport with major brain damage.

That poor guy didn't want some unknown. He wanted to spend as much time as they had left with the one person he loved more than anything in the world

This is irresponsible. You don't get pregnant when you're diagnosted with stage 4 brain cancer 8 months ago. That's not loving a person when at best, you live them to deal, in the most positive outcome, with a little kid after your death. She said it, she wanted it, she needed it. That's her problem, she clearly didn't have enough therapy to deal with what was happening to her. She ruined this man life with her obsession with legacy in that form. Now, all that's left if pain, suffering and guilt. Good job M'aam, really good job.

It’s not a fetus. It’s a baby. When you reduce a human being to just being called a fetus, you make them disposable and without moral worth. Any good, compassionate doctor would have said that we need to deliver the BABY now. Also, any good, compassionate doctor wouldn’t tell a woman who’s desperate to have and hold her baby to terminate the pregnancy. Even if the baby was not going to make it, you advise the patient that the safest option is to deliver the BABY early and take it to the NICU.
