What Is A Lipoma?

A lipoma is a slow-growing, fatty lump that's most often situated between your skin and the underlying muscle layer. A lipoma, which feels doughy and usually isn't tender, moves readily with slight finger pressure. Lipomas are usually detected in middle age. Some people have more than one lipoma.

A lipoma isn't cancer and usually is harmless. Treatment generally isn't necessary, but if the lipoma bothers you, is painful or is growing, you may want to have it removed.

I have same lump as u said in the hip which is painless and movable in one side of the hip

You mentioned that they can sometimes go away on their own, but everything I’ve read, says that once they appear, they do not go away.

My husband has a large size ball under his neck. He said he had it drained one time & it was some shiny silvery that came out in the basin. The next day after having it drained the big ball came right back underneath his neck. That was in the 1990’s. He also has a huge soft spongy long area on the back of his neck that occasionally drains putrid whitish cottage cheese consistency on it’s own when it gets too big. My husband is a smoker & elderly & refuses to have them removed. I’m afraid one day he will just drop if the neck lump should burst.

I was told its a fatty tissue grows . 3 OR 4 TIMES REMOVED ! But keeps coming back . Last 1 Doc went really deep to get root out still coming back. Round ball size of golf ball . Now going to try Lipoma removal cream . See how that works. If you can help me on this it be great.

I have a lump on my back in-between the shoulder blades. It's been there for over a year and its about the size of a quarter. There is another very small one next to it that hasn't changed at all. But the larger one just became tender. I'm not sure how squishy it should be or how much I should be able to move it around. It has always felt pretty firm and it moves a little I guess but I don't know what that movement is supposed to look like. Its not rock hard but not like a sponge. I wish there was a video showing how squishy or movable they are.

My dad have a lump in his upper back shoulder, , , it grows everyday and it pains him. Can surgery be done at his age, he is 80yrs old? Or will it be complicated beacuse he is athmatic?

Can this be cured by antibiotics? My GP prescribed me some antibiotics. I had pain pre consulation that radiated to the head and chest, but now it disappeared. However, I still feel uncomfortable with it. Is the surgery an option?

Very informative. I have a similar issue in my shoulder but it is causing pain and I find it difficult to move my arms due to the pains it generates. What might be the cause.
