Despite Murmansk not being the most bustling city, we always try to capture as much of the local atmosphere as possible. Although the main concentration of people can be found in shopping centers rather than on the streets, Alexey will guide you through the lovely city center`s streets. Furthermore, the weather has already started to change in Murmansk, with the onset of colder temperatures and even a hint of rain in the evening. However, this provides a unique perspective on the city, as it highlights the cozy and atmospheric charm of Murmansk.
Do you know that Murmanks is the northernmost millionaire city in the world? Located on the shores of the Barents Sea near Kola Bay, modern Murmansk began its history in 1916 and is still considered quite an important port city in the country. But there are a few things that make it unique. The polar night reigns here from the beginning of December to mid-January, and the polar day - from the end of May to the end of July. And locals paint buildings and stones in different bright colors to somehow dilute the dullness of an eight-month winter.
Another interesting fact: there is only one high-rise building in Murmansk - the 18-story “Arktika” hotel, which is also the ONLY hotel in the city.
