These games are not for avid fans of the genre anymore. I mean anything that comes out of these big studios have dumbed down gameplay appealing to the masses. Truly good mechanics can only now be found in smaller games willing to take risks (Kerbal Space Program, ONI, StarSector etc.)

A constant thing I've seen in the past ten years as we've moved to districting in 4x games is a constant wake of mods to fix cluttering between districts. These come out basically right after the game because the gaps (which I can clearly see here) draw away from the immersion of building a cohesive thriving city. It feels more like modern loose amalgamations of large suburbs versus a fooling complete dense urban city.

The graphic style is a huge improvement compared to the "mobile game" look CIV6 had. I'm looking forward to playing it.
