If you are truly broke tho, the “cheap” unscrew shit type dumbells are also in pretty good for the price. The problem is that trying to unscrew the weights in between sets itself is a workout

If you’re broke, calisthenics, plyometrics, and cardio are you’re best friend.

I experienced the opposite. Home workouts didn't motivate me so I ended up only working out for 15 minutes where as if you go to the gym there are people around you working hard so you push yourself as well and end up working out much longer because you went all the way there might as well.

100%. I work in the oilfield and I only have soo much space in my truck, so I bring the 90lb bow flex dumbells and an adjustable bench, and I can pretty much hit every body part. Only other thing I bring is a pull up bar, some perfect push-up handles, and a weighted vest. You gotta make do with what you have, and working out on the clock is the greatest feeling ever

I got diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes five weeks ago. That really woke me up in terms of getting my butt back in shape. Plus the thought of being wheelchair ridden or being an amputee really scared me. Sometimes it takes a medical diagnosis to really get your butt in gear. But I shouldn't have let myself go either.

I used to be quite active and always wanted to get back into shape, but I've put it off for way too long. But a trip to the gym and having to deal with people is not really my cup of tea. So I invested in a smith/cable machine combo and a set of 552 and 1090 from Bowflex along with an adjustable bench.

Three weeks using the equipment regularly with a 4-day split routine, I can honestly say I feel so much better. I have a long way to go to get to my personal goal weight of 145 lbs (I'm a 5'5" male). But seeing my blood pressure drop from 175/111 to 140/88 and losing 7 pounds within that 3 weeks...I ain't stopping now.

A few steps walk to my garage and I am in my own exercise space without the need to wait for others, well except for my son and wife when they are in there working out as well.

Thanks for sharing! Thats exactly what I did. I ‘outgrew’ my old adjustable dbs, and I am too attached to get rid of it now that the new ones are here.

This is so true, I started off with calisthenics and then I got adjustable 55lbs dumbbells for Christmas and using those truly developed my love for working out. Then when I got a bench it was a game changer

Being in a gym gets me more motivated than working out at home. The hardest part is actually just GETTING the fuck UP

Wow, this is simple yet incredible advice never really thought a home gym setup could be this efficient.

I 100% agree. You're absolutely right man. A home gym is the best investment I've ever made.

Now that I’m married with a kid and busy job, it’s less about $$$ and more about time. Even if it takes me 10 minutes to get to the gym and 10 minutes back, that’s 20 minutes I could have been working out. It’s WAY easier to just have a decent treadmill and some dumbells and a bench set at home.

HIGHLY recommend Nuobell Adjustable Dumbbells. Goes up to 80lbs each and adjusts in seconds 🔥💯

If only I knew how convenient the adjustable dumbbells would be compared to the screwed ones I bought. 😂

Excellent advice. I bought sets of 10s, 20s, 30s dumbbells and an adjustable bench for this purpose.
