I love the fact that death usually only confronts puss when hes alone. Sort of resembles the fact that the fear of death usually only kicks in when youre left with your own thoughts

This movie used a single drop of blood more effectively than most rated r movies where people explode just for the sake of gore.
I audibly gasped when I saw it going down his face

“I find the very idea of 9 lives absurd.” And then going on to tell Puss, “and you didn’t value ANY of them.” Is such a deep line, like that line shook me.

This fact that death has less than 10 minutes of screen time and he’s already become one of the most popular and beloved animated villains of all time goes to show how good he really is.

"Everyone thinks they'll be able to defeat me, but no one's escaped me yet"

–a pretty intimidating line but after know that wolf is death itself, this dialogue takes it into a whole new dimension.

This character and Puss's panic attack are actually pretty heavy material for a kids movie. Impressive.

Death's presence in this film is so imposing even though he doesn't have that much screentime he feels like he's there all the time.
Also his whistle is crazy and genuinely terrifying

One thing to really appreciate is they never make a joke at death’s expense. He never looks foolish or has really any comedic moments. The atmosphere of the movie changes dramatically when he appears on stage, best highlighted in the fight scene. It’s all whimsical there’s lots of one liners and bright colors and loud noises. And then he appears and the feeling shifts instantly. THAT’S a great villain.

Best Dreamworks villain since Lord Shen, with the best lines, presence and he certainly knows how to make an entrance

Once again DreamWorks shows they're the only people that can make a sequel better than the original.

I love that Death feels human. You would expect death to be a being with no personality, just kinda a force of nature. But Death has an actual personality. He taunts Puss in the first fight, and he curses in Spanish after the last fight. It's what makes Death more unique and interesting.

"I came here for a arrogant little legend who thought he was immortal, I don't see that anymore." It's cool that death is both the enemy and mentor to puss. They did a good job on his character. 👌

If you pause at 0:15 you can see 8 glasses that Puss has gone through already, representing the 8 lives he has lost and he is drinking from the 9th currently, pretty neat detail.

The scariest part about Death imo is that he’s seemingly unbound by any physical laws unlike any of the other characters. He teleports out of nowhere most of the time, all of the other characters save for puss can’t see him before the final act and that death wall surrounding the wishing star that disintegrates horner’s henchman and lifts up 3 bears at once? He walks through it like it’s nothing.

I love Wagner Moura's voice so much. He sounds charismatic, suave and creepy simultaneously.

“Everyone thinks they’ll be the one to defeat me, but no one’s escaped me yet”
That quote hits deep.
“Live your life, Puss in Boots. Live it well.”
That’s the best advice that Death gives to Puss.

I love how before he meets death he flails his sword around carelessly, when he realises he has 1 life left he’s afraid to ‘pick it up’ because if he makes a mistake with it he’s done for. I think it represents courage, death hunts him because he’s too afraid to be courageous and instead is fearful

I will never believe this guy had under 5 minutes of screentime? Perfect character

Puss n' Boots has never been touched by a blade, but Death was the only one to make him touch one physically, metaphorically, rhetorically, poetically, theoretically, and other fancy words. He made Puss n' Boots bleed, straight up.

"i know i can never defeat you lobo, but i will never stop fighting for this life"
is probably the most powerful line of dialogue in the whole movie
