That's actually a really interesting concept. That you can beat Death, but in doing so, you become him. If Death can no longer kill you anymore, you never die, but to bring an end to its ultimate form you have become the new best death bringer. You do become Death.

It ends up filling the shoes with someone who can do its job better and better over time until it's never defeated again.
