5 Truck Camping Safety Essentials

In this video we go over 5 of my top items to help you stay safe while out camping!

The first essential item is a well-stocked first aid kit. Make sure it includes items such as bandages, gauze, antiseptic, and pain relievers. It's also a good idea to include any medications you or your travel companions might need.

The second essential item is a fire extinguisher. Make sure it's rated for use on all types of fires, including electrical and gasoline fires. Keep it easily accessible in case of an emergency.

The third essential item is a personal locator beacon. This device can help rescuers find you in case of an emergency, such as if you become lost or injured. Make sure it's fully charged and keep it with you at all times.

The fourth essential item is a multi-tool. This versatile tool can be used for a variety of tasks, including cutting, prying, and opening cans. Look for one that's durable and has a variety of useful tools.

The fifth and final essential item is a reliable communication device. This can be a cell phone, two-way radio, or satellite phone. Make sure you have a way to communicate with others in case of an emergency or if you need help.

Thanks for watching!

That's handy stuff man, , , two years ago I got tagged by a six ft long eastern diamondback rattlesnake in the Appalachians, I only made it about fifty ft to where I couldn't walk at all, without my phone I wouldn't be here now, and was lucky I had a signal, , , , don't go into the mountains without some insurance, like you said, , , you never know what may happen !

Great video. I'd add the following:
1) Ear plugs in case you're camping near a high traffic area
2) One of those 3D eye masks to nap during the day
3) A decent rechargeble portable fan. I bought one off of Amazon a while back for $20. Life saver during the heat and you can take it anywhere outside with you, like in your tent.
4) Tape and shovel for your recreational murder spree
5) Water

That's a great public service announcement from the Crazy Q-man. One more thing that I always have on me ( in a ankle "holster" ) is a CAT ( combat action tourniquet ). Being able to stop a major bleed-out is likely the difference between life or death.

I’ve seen some truck campers that have cctv systems setup so they can monitor outside their truck when they are camped out in the bed. Especially good if you cover up or black out your windows.

Another good thing to have in your medkit is a Tourniquet, and know how to use it.
Godspeed!

Awesome vid.. Dont forget the bear spray or a side arm if you csn depending on state laws, etc.. Also, a good knife, axe, saw and a supply of back up food, balnket, etc.. Foldable shotgun is best..

Great items to have Mike
I also would like to add a seat belt cutter and a window breaker you would keep it in the front of your truck so if in case you go off a bridge or end up in some water source you can cut the seat belt quickly and break the window they do have them set belt cutter and a window breaker in the same tool.
Awesome as always Mike thanks so much for sharing these are great items to have with you at all times.
Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
You're the Man.
Stay awesome as always.

I’m a ham radio operator I have one mounted in my truck and if I’m out in the woods I usually carry a hand held.

Glad you mentioned radios. In my Tundra, I have both a base cd radio and a base GMRS radio.

I also have a handheld GMRS radio as well. I keep a spare battery always charged and have a cigarette lighter adapter to charge in the truck while on the go.

If I were with a second person, I could walk a good long distance from my truck with my handheld and still be able to talk with my truck.

So I like the fact you mentioned redundancy and thats what and why I keep those in my truck.

I still havent gotten one of those Garmin GPS Locator devices yet but researching if it's a good item for my needs.

One thing I noticed I didn't see you have, is a good solar charger. I keep two in my truck, one in the bag and the other in a molle pouch attached to my molle panel.

Great video man, liked it alot...

Thanks for this, and if you’re truck camping also add a basic recovery kit with a snatch strap and a lithium battery jump starter. Plus a bunch of lighters. 👍🏽

Great list man, never knew that story about breaking your leg, that sounds like a horrible experience but Im glad you turned it into something that has given us all so much entertainment. We love your content, keep on keeping on!

An excellent video! As you know well, things can, and do, happen. My only suggestion, as you mentioned it, would be to get a ham radio license and radio. The test is not that hard or expensive, and you can get radios really cheap. Quady, as much time as you spend on the road in away from everybody, I would strongly suggest you go that route. It's just another safety device! Stan KC0OPW
