This really isn’t a high speed train. On the existing route it goes around 70-80 mph which is average for a suburban/commuter train. Even when the new line opens it will only really go 125 mph max which still isn’t high speed, that’s a good speed for an intercity train but not a high speed train. The only high speed train currently running in the US is the Acela from Boston to DC. It goes 150 which is the bare minimum for high speed rail and it’s electric. All new high speed rail should be electric and really should go 300 kph or around 200 mph. Brightline seems to have a good looking train but they really should electrify their line and make it fully grade separated so not as many idiot drivers crash into the trains.
