The problem I had with the step on bindings was heel lift inside the boot. The first day or two they worked great, and then the boots packed out, and the became a bit too big. If your boots don’t fit exactly right there’s no way to ratchet your ankle back down, where as with strap bindings you can get away with a boot that is a bit too big or packed out. With step on bindings if your boots don’t fit exactly right, it will ruin your day. But if they do fit well step on bindings are actually pretty great.

I went for the photon, it fit perfectly in the shop and for the first year ( probably doing 30 days riding in that time ). Now it feels a little loose. Either my feet have shrunk, the boot has taken ages to wear in or I’m a better rider now so as I push harder I’m noticing more movement inside the boot. I went up half a size from my normal shoe size as that’s what felt best in the shop, It doesn’t feel too long though just baggy around my foot

Very very true. My bbf was told to buy a whole size up from he's foot, so he went from a 10 to 11. And he boot is too loose.

The Ion is the most responsive, and most comfortable, snowboard boot I've ever used.

I had the ions, photons, swath and dc control step on boots. I found the swath and control too soft for me. Ions were super comfy like a furry slipper. I wish the ions come in boa instead of speed lace.

Second season in and my Photons are getting soft... no way around it when you have lots of days on the slopes. I may need a new pair next season.

Pretty new to snowboarding but lifelong skier. Bought the swath and feel like it’s a little too soft feeling for me. Just ordered the photon to see how that feels. Could get used to the swath but feel like it will continue to get softer. Concerned ion will be too stiff. Thoughts on photon vs swath?
