Police officer suspended for using pepper spray on elderly man in China

A police officer in China’s Hangzhou province has been suspended for using pepper spray on an elderly man. The latter had tried to be a mediator for a dispute between the officer and two motorcyclists who violated traffic regulations.

how could you panic when an elderly man tries to grab your leg in that speed? The officer didn't even looked panic, he just sprayed him and left the road.

The officer didn't know how to react to the instance but ... Yeah we have to agree that it could've resulted in serious eye issues for that elderly person

Wow they immediately suspended the officer and visited the old man. In the US: “this is still under investigation”, and ends up with no penalty

Even if the old guy was interfering, he didn't really have to use pepper spray, he could have just calmed the old guy down, or just grab his hands

I get we don't have the full picture but that could have ended up a lot worse. He sprayed the old guy and if he panicked and was in a lot of pain to the point of taking some more steps and fall over, some cars might have hit him by accident. Look how close it was to the cars!

In us the elderly would have been shot, 2 years investigation without any results and then everyone forgot that the case even existed

Well in America the guy would have been thrown down, cuffed, and then tazed. After that he would have been punched a couple times. And the police chief would have said he did everything right and the officer would keep his job.
