"It's for your own safety" is always the precursor to some sort of loss

I look at life in this manner... Everything ends, and this is merely a temporary existence. Live life like it's a game you love playing. People replay said games to break them after playing it so many times, so go out and break the matrix of life. Find the bugs, and enjoy just playing. Fear nothing, learn all you can, love what you have and those in your life, even if it's your enemy for the antagonist makes the game fun. I smile at a difficult challenge for I know it will add to my experience and will better myself overall, even if that experience is more of a nightmare. Failure is merely a learning tool.

Neither taking risk, nor taking care, are inherently good or bad. It all depends on the situation. It's far more important to be able to judge when to take risk, and when to take care, than it is to elevate one strategy over the other.

As a member of a younger generation, boy do we need to hear this. Fantastic video. Thanks.

It's important to emphasize how much fear promotes stupidity.
This is incredibly prevalent for the last 2 years.

I needed this! Dealing with PTSD will have you feeling like you are living in a cage, letting life past you by. I’m over it!

A great explanation of why I feel more free in countries that are “less regulated / safe.” Freedom requires risk and no reward comes without great risk and vulnerability

I'm 52, and I remember most of this was common sense growing up through the 70's~80's.
I miss those times SO much! Seems like it was a different world compared to today.

"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." - Frank Herbert

"A good life isn't a safe life" a thing to be remembered.

i think to my absolute favorite historical quote, uttered by one of the US's founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin: "Those who are willing to trade a little freedom for a little safety deserve neither and shall inevitably lose both".
the purpose of the statement is fairly simple to grasp, and that being that freedom is not necessarily a safe thing, and that if we want to maintain our freedom, we have to accept the dangers that come with it and work to mitigate them ourselves.

I heard this year's ago, and absolutely connected with the thought. Life is meant to be experienced.
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!" Hunter s. Thompson

I saw a pic on FB last year, taken in our grade schools -- showing all kinds of kids wearing their masks, watched by adult teachers and police. Kids aren't learning anything except to fear authority and do as they're told.
Thank you for this video.

Risk management vs risk aversion.
And beware the overreaction of recklessness, which causes undue harm to self and others.

Wisdom, as with all things, lies in balance.

The knight who hides from the dragon may survive but is no knight, has saved no villagers, and is a coward.
The knight who rushes in unprepared is quickly devoured, along with his squires and the villagers. He is a fool and only fed the beast.
The knight who prepares, plans, takes precautions and goes boldly but strategically prevails, saving himself and all, and is truly the hero.
