Watching Nicolas Cage movies will make you a better designer. Kind of.

It's important to find inspiration from all sources. If you do this, it's more likely that you'll come up with something novel and interesting.

John Mauriello has been working professionally as an industrial designer since 2010. He is an Adjunct Professor of industrial design at California College of the Arts.

This video is really cool. I love how you show that inspiration can be drawn from anything! quite literally. Ideas come from experiencing life!

Another great video John - perhaps in part two the series you will include some suggestions for how to find these inspirations. A great deal of the hunt for treasure is not in the map, rather in the guide that takes you to those points. How can one be an effective self-guide to find these seemingly hidden inspirations? A good start to emotional story-telling and object empathy is to engage in mixed-use sensorial mashups. I often suggest "look for the story, the purpose, the intensity of an object and listen to it." As you so aptly point out through the example of musicians.

Nice video. As a storyteller and designer, I always love anything that focuses on the link between them.

Another great video! Many times young designer's staff are often seen as 'powerless', 'meaningless', or 'feel-less'. Do you know if there are any good books I can read about what symbols I can consider to use to achieve a certain feel in the design language?

Wow - hearing a native english speaker pronouncing Dieter Rams nearly perfect irritated me A LOT :D for a second i thought it was wrong not absolutely right
That makes you one of the best design teachers out here. That along some other skills ;)

In regards to the woman on the piano at the end, I thought you were going to say "find inspiration from her and click those like and subscribe buttons the way she clicks those keys" or were you trying to inspire me to click those?
