Sometimes you just need to really appreciate Ellen Mclain’s vocal talents. Her dedication to his series is what makes this game good. She brought to life some of the most memorable characters, and we all have to thank her for that.

I was crying tears of joy, especially when the companion cube got launched out behind me. After two games, I finally earned my freedom - and peace with GLaDOS. I was so incredibly happy.

Well, I somehow avoided all spoilers for portal 1 and 2, and now I finished both in 2020, and damn. Can i just say those 2 are probably the best games I've played either ever or in a long, long time.

Writing this in 2021, coming back after these many years. I've always seen this as a farewell song. From the way it's presented in-game, Glados, the turrets and the entire facility are saying goodbye to Chell. But it's not just that. For me, it was also some sort of farewell song from Valve, since this was the last classic title they put out. From that point on Valve would shift its focus to other things. They stopped being a game-making company per se, and they most likely won't return to being one. The games they've made since then are closer to being pet-projects, without much long-term vision. Even if they would attempt to do something oldschool again, it wouldn't be the same, since the core team that made them great is pretty much gone.
To this, whenever I hear this song or watch that ending scene, I always envision that classic golden age of Valve saying a fond farewell and moving on in life. They know this is the last game of that era, and they wave it (and us) goodbye as the Aperture Facility does with Chell.
