"Amazon loves it when you purchase things" - True quality technical insight there Josh!

Yes, it can. The old kindle was able to handle pdfs, mobi's and a lot of different file extension formats. You can find the entire list online somewhere.

I am afraid this is my very first kindle, I read all reviews very carefully, paying attention to negative feedback than positive ones, and decided to go with Kindle Touch. But it was out of stock so I was pretty sure it was about to be replaced by a newer version. I waited 2 months for the whole process and am unhappy with what I get. Next week when I have time, I will record the problems in a video and ask for your assessments. Thanks.

That's normal for e-ink displays. The new Paperwhite can go 6 page refreshs before it does a complete refresh that looks like the inverted black flash. You can change this in the settings in the paperwhite. Do you have an older kindle? If so, then it is perfectly normal behavior.

I am going to have to import this in the UK. All the kindles in the uk are crap next to this, the lack on night time reading and the way text was always too big on the smallest setting was the thing that was stopping me from getting a kindle. But this looks great, shame it is not being released in the uk, but I suppose that is what ebay is for. This is the first kindle I think could replace my paper hard copies. :)

He lent a review unit to Joanna Stern (who loves Bieber) who purchased it, so now it's linked with his account. He mentions it on the 2nd most recent podcast.

Listen to the Podcast. He lent one of his kindles to Joanna Stern (who loves Bieber) and loaded it up and it's been forever linked to his account ever since.

Flash transitions make it look like from 90's :P

No headphone jack, no text to speech, and only 2 gigs! I'll wait for the next one. I still love my kindle touch any way! Thanks for the

"Because Amazon loves when you purchase things." that made me laugh. Nice review. (:

I've had my Kindle keyboard (I think it was called the K3 when I got it) for two years as of this month. I usually read about one book a week... 2gb of memory is more than enough. I will be getting the paperwhite ASAP.

I've seen that too on reviews. I had high hopes but I guess I'm still waiting.

I wish you'd covered the 3G features! I would like to better understand the capabilities and limitations of that browser. I like the idea of browsing Wikiedia on the bus without paying anything to a subscriber... But, you know, I'd like to know if that browsing will include pictures. Or if I can also go to Tom's Hardware and post comments on the articles there.

I need more info before I buy!

Yes, we know theres a difference between tablets and ereaders, and we hope that readers could do some of what tablets do. We would like it if readers had faster processors, so we could read pdfs in readers, because pdfs are meant to be read. And no, pdfs are not only magazines and comics, but actual books. It was a standard for books before mobi and eupb came, so we would like to read pdfs properly in readers too.

Tablets can keep color, video and apps. I want to read in my reader, my pdf books

It's an Amazon standard issued review unit. They put some random books in it ;)

Depends. If you are using mobis that are less than the half of a mb, yes, but on my 2gb reader, I have 70 books and it only has 500mbs available. Pdfs vary in size, and some pdfs cant be converted to mobi properly, at least not by general consumers that dont know tons of html and python. I was quite disappointed by the lack of sd slot, cuz my library isnt full of amazon novels, there are tons of technical manuals and handbooks. But then, readers arent for that, arent they...

From some (selection bias here maybe) reviews, I feel like Kindle Touch is still the best reader. But if this is an e-ink problem (unfortunately none of my friends own one for me to test), I don't want a Touch either. I need something not to big that would be mostly used for reading journal pdf files (the pdf files show horribly blurry on my new Paperwhite), I don't need 3G, web browser or games... and I was hoping Kindle could solve it. Sigh...
