The 5070 is so close to the 5080 because the 5080 is the renamed 5070ti. The 5070ti is the renamed 5070. Nvidia tried this with the 4xxx series and had to “unlaunch” cards. They’ve successfully pulled it off this time and the real 5080 be the upcoming 5080 Ti/Super.

Everyone writes that you shouldn't buy any video card right now. I have a 2070 super, I waited for the 50th generation to buy a good video card for years, and as a result, prices even for the 40th generation went up instead of down, and the 50th doesn't seem to be worth the money either. So what to do? I don't really want AMD, it doesn't have DLSS.

The mistake most reviewers do is to compare to the 4070 series. If it costs as much as a 4080 / super, then you must compare it to that GPU. Else you will fall into the trap of nVidia just naming things the way they want e.g. an extreme example would be 6060 that is actually a 5070 in performance and price. So the correct thing is to compare the 5070 Ti with the 4080 super.
