Where Did Earth's Water Come From? Origins of Oceans!

While researchers have been searching for other planets for many decades, it is already clear today what distinguishes us from the other satellites in our solar system: water. As the source of all life on Earth, it was water that ultimately played the decisive role in the development of intelligent species on the planet. But how did the so important water actually come to our planet? After all, in terms of history, for a long time the Earth was no different from the Moon or the other rocks in our solar system. With every discovery of similar planets in space, new theories emerge - but in the meantime scientists agree that they have found at least two plausible theories for the origin of water on Earth.

Your statement that if another planet with an intact atmosphere (whatever that exactly means) and water is found the chance of intelligent life would be quite high is absolute bunk.

Water came from Hydrogen and Oxygen molicules mixing together in the atmosphere causing constant floods everywhere for millions of years. The real question is where did these molicules come from? 🤔

So we do not know where all the water came from. Saying 'we do not know yet' is the right answer.

still interesting to find out about where water come from, different ideas & different facts

I'll choose the ice planet theory

I recommend using the words inference or hypothesis instead of the words Theory when it comes to ideas that aren't conclusive

It was probably a combustion of gases in the atmosphere at the time things like hydrogen and methane and the combustion event creates huge amounts of water and oxygen as a byproduct of the reaction

If we got the water via the late bombardment and comets, how did it all not burn up or evaporate when entering and then slamming into the earth? Doesn’t seem like there’d be much water at all left after they hit. It would take billions and billions of comets to hit in order for us to have all this water.

Are you aware that evaporation doesn’t destroy water molecules? Jfc this is a science channel? 🤦‍♂️

What if water came from massive raining days everyday for hundreds or thousands of years before the dinosaurs were created.

Water probably just forms on planets with particular atmospheres. It naturally exists in the universe. Hydrogen and oxygen likely just combine at certain distances and temperatures from a host star. I dont understand why this seems so complicated. Its not like Earth is the only place with water or water ice.

Water is proven older than the earth and the sun.

Nope not from a meteor, for the meteor to hold that much water it would be bigger than earth itself

Tell me why ocean and sea water contains salts???

Am still doubt about the place where water 💧 from

My guess is, the sun had a ring of h2o mist around it and earth was there to collect it slowly over billions of years.

Intelligent...hmm. Intelligence do not destroy their home...🤔

I am more inclined to believe that it was a water world that impacted with earth as the origin of our water it's just an enormous amount of water to be anything else.

We were an ice gaseous planet and it all melted lol

What was earths orbit/rotation before there was water formed?
