How A US-China Chip War Benefits India | Between the Lines with Palki Sharma

The US and China are fighting a war, a war for supremacy in the world of technology. This war between Beijing and Washington centers around semiconductors or chips. They are at the heart of a tech 'cold war' between Beijing and Washington that is only growing in intensity.

But what role does India play in this? New Delhi is pushing itself as an alternative to China's chips by trying to establish itself as a semiconductor manufacturing hub. How will India achieve this? Palki Sharma tells you on Between the Lines.

India will produce low profile semi-conductor. India can't make Chips yet, although I know an Indian who did a post-doc with my supervisor in the mid-90s and now he is a director of the big American company and a scientist for major Chip designing and manufacturing. They will never go back to India from the USA.

Looks as if the Indian attempt to get into the chip business is going nowhere with very few investors willing to back India's approach of using large conglomerates with no experience in semiconductors to lead the effort. I suppose they think it may work for cement and steel but not when it comes to advanced technology. The phone business has become a low margin final assembly effort with all components sourced in other Asian countries.

Who is India, and who is China in the question? Who's representing India and China? Does anyone get it? Who's pitting A vs B in the media's narrative? What is the agenda? Who's behind the inciting?

It seems that people forgot the US and Japan chips war in the 70's. The US just forced Japan to appreciate the Yen and bingo Japan lost trillions of Yen in US corporations and real estate assets. Unfortunately Japan's stagflation/recession is still going on to this day. Japan and the US are still friends, by the way! The aftermath, Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, and Singapore are the beneficiaries.
