I don't mind charging a little more because you have to account for packaging, filler, tape, paper to print label, travel to Post Office, etc....which is all involved in shipping the item. Just my thoughts when I decide shipping price. So even though we may get charged less for using a different service for the label the money saved can offset these costs.😊

thank you... Mine is already defaulted to Post Office retail rates, so that's good! I noticed when starting my biz on Etsy, that when I go to print the shipping label, it defaults to the most expensive shipping fee the USPS offers, and I always check to see what the customer already paid, as this can end up costing me more, if I select the box that is defaulted. TRICKERY in my opinion, but..I am curious if, the customer selects the most expensive rate and i decide to ship it for the lesser amount, is that more money in my pocket? I'm thinking of informing the customer to cancel order and select the cheaper rate (saving $4) and it might arrive one day later. Just seems silly to pay more for one day and It most likely won't be a day later because the order is going out the day after they purchased it. Make sense? thanks for all your tips...they are really helpful as I'm new to running my small business on Etsy. :)

I have a question: If I use regular USPS rates and I have a package at 15 ounces, it will go into Priority Mail; Etsy shipping rates stays First Class up to 16 ounces. So when I go to ship this 15 ounce item and I choose First Class, the customer is going to be expecting Priority and might get unhappy. So should I still send it Priority?

I hate Etsy I never purchase anything, the shipping cost is out of this world. I wanted to buy something of 18 dollars and the shipping was like two times the price, I checked various items and the shipping fee is crazy. No thank you. I rather Amazon.
