Wow...7 years later and this guy is STILL answering every comment! That's impressive.

Thanks for the info! Basic and to the point. Looking into getting my first aquarium set up, and it's definitely been a overwhelming, but fun process so far.

Great Video! I love that you, with all the experience you've gained over the years, still remember that new people start this hobby everyday. Videos like this one make it easier for all of us new comers. Wish you had done this a year ago, lol.

Thank you! I haven't kept fish in years and I needed a refresher. This was perfect! I think you hit all the most important parts.

Thank you! This was very informative, broken down and to the point. I literally took notes! I know I'm a nerd... But I'm thinking of giving my son his first aquarium and had no idea how much work actually goes into this. I also had no idea where to start so thank you! :)

This is eye opening. I’ve researched keeping fish for years but I’ve barely had any practical experience. So it’s good to start easy.

The larger the tank the easier to maintain good water quality imo.

i am a beginner and what i really want to know is:
1. which fish is best for beginners ( tough kind of fish since i will surely do a lot of mistakes like overfeeding them or changing their water too soon or too late)
2. which plants are easier to maintain ( artificial or real plants). and if artificial plants, do i need herbivore fish to help clean the artificial plant from time to time?
3. which types of fishes will be best to be put together ( do not fight amongst themselves) including herbivores or janitor fishes if needed?
4. if i use tap water to set a fresh water aquarium up, what do i do to remove the potential chlorine in the water. do i add some medicine or anything to make the water healthier for the fish?
5. how do i add the fish? do i scoop them out and drop them in the tank? or do i put the dirty water they came in with in the tank with them thus making the clean water tank dirty?
6. how often do i clean or change the water in the tank?
7. how often do i feed the fish? if i got like 7 fishes in there, how do i make sure each of them get enough food and not that one or two are eating all the food i am dropping in for them.
8. is there like vitamins for the fish? or do they need any vitamins like the cats and dogs do?
you see, for me these are the basic questions of a beginner. a real beginner. i would be very very thankful if you make a video answering these questions. i will subscribe on your channel just in case you decided to answer my questions. thanks.

My ex and I have had several freshwater and saltwater aquariums; and you've taught me so much that I'd never known.

Nice video for beginners, of which, I am one. I’m planning on a 20 gallon long, low tech aquascaped tank. I’ve been doing some research for a couple of months, and plan on a few more. I want to be really prepared when I set up my first tank. I really enjoy your videos, thanks for all the info!

not criticism, just advice: a tiny bit of editing goes a long way, and you don't have to apologize for being sick. this is a reference that people will be watching months/years later, it doesn't matter
