This is third in a series about computer networks. This video covers how Ethernet transmits frames of data on a Local Area Network (LAN). The way in which frame collisions can occur is illustrated, along with the system known as Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detention (CSMA/CD), which is used to deal with frame collisions. The way Ethernet is used in modern wireless networks including the role of the wireless access point and the use of Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) is also covered.
