A CT scan is a test that uses x-rays and a computer to create detailed pictures of the inside of your body. It takes pictures from different angles. The computer puts them together to make a 3 dimensional (3D) image. CT (or CAT) stands for computerised (axial) tomography.

I had my final CT scan a couple of weeks ago to check that my kidney cancer hasn't returned since I had surgery in early 2014. I will never forget the warm feeling of the contrast going through my body for a long time :-)

CT scans are about the easiest thing I have done.. Lay there, hold your breath for 7 or so seconds. Nothing too it... My first scan found a tumor in right kidney.. But after it was removed CT scan found nothing bad. :)

Anyone who thinks that a CT scanner is loud has never had an MRI. :-)

I have a question regarding when a CT scan is performed. Is it necessary for the gantry to rotate around the body to get the images required. or can your body be scanned by just having the body be moved back and forth into the machine while holding your breath .Also is there a light that comes on.

Getting one in about an hour and a half. Not a big fan of the IV contrast tbh. I’m scared of IV’s. The thought of a needle staying in me for that long is freaky.
