There’s one glaring flaw... - 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller

Mobile gamers, REJOICE! There's a new mobile gaming controller from 8BitDo, and they think it's the ultimate option for those looking to take their competitive phone gameplay to the next level. With Hall effect buttons and triggers, solid build quality, and an extremely aggressive price point compared to the competition, will Linus be impressed, or are the phones themselves holding back the market?

Purchases made through some store links may provide some compensation to Linus Media Group.

Flip the phone around so the camera bump is in the gap and the power buttons are on top. It looks like it will sit flush.

The fact that he did not have that phone sitting flush the whole time was triggering 😭

Fun fact genshin Impact does support controller natively on iphone. But they refuse to even acknowledge that people have been asking for controller support on android for years now

Sony once again proves that bezels are useful. Front firing speakers is such an obvious move for media.

8:50 Apple bought exclusivity for Genshin Impact for controller support for mobile 💀

There is a version of this with USB-C instead of Bluetooth

8:35 cod mobile literally has a toggle to enable controller mode in settings. Don’t need to map buttons or any workaround. I occasionally play with a ds4 when I get bored when travelling lol

It's funny at the end because even if Genshin was updated and he got it working, Genshin on Android doesn't support controllers, so he would have needed the button mapping feature.

The gamesir g8 galileo with USB-c is by far the best of all these devices, literally no need to look at any other devices.

You dont have to pair your controller every time, only when connecting to a a new phone from my experience. All you might have to do is switch on BT.

8bitdo's pretty much the king of budget controller now.
Their $30 ultimate controller with dock included is better than the official series S/X controller.
I still have their snes bluetooth controller from years ago and it's still kicking.
Recently got their Ultimate switch controller and same here, works great on the Switch and, a rare nice surprise, even though they don't officially support linux, it works out of the box with the 2.4ghz dongle.

6:35 It's actually the older model that has the charging pass-through.

Honestly I would just recommend to save the $30 extra bucks to buy the G8+. I have that controller and I love how comfortable it is, it has a 1, 000 mAh battery plus it works for android, iOS, and the switch. You can even dislodge the tabs in the back that stop it from extending to fit even bigger tablets. It’s well worth the $80 imo. Can’t wait to see your review of it haha.

I switched from the Backbone to the Gamesir and it’s night and day. It holds my iPad Pro 11”!

Would've loved seeing you guys try out sunshine/moonlight for a local steamdeck-like experience.

As an Emulator user, and Retroarch user, those paddles on the back come in handy. Usually map the Translate and Turbo to the back paddles.

I also ran into the same issues with Genshin and Call of Duty with my mobile controller. However, they do work after you've done the tutorial.

I believe with Call of Duty after the tutorial you must have it paired before joining a game so match making will put you in a lobby with other mobile controller users. If you try to connect the controller after you've joined a lobby, it will never work because you are in a lobby with others who do not use a mobile controller.

For Genshin on iOS, after the tutorial (I think its after like 30 mins of playing into the story) in the settings you'll be able to turn on a setting to connect mobile controllers.
