I have never gone spearfishing but my dad loves it.
I just imagine it like freediving with a prize at the end of some dives.

Gone to Hawaii to spear a couple of times and these fish are such a tease. Will sit on bottom for 2 min just for them to barley come into range, probably one of the smartest fish out there.

Mu, if it helps for us, south of the equator, not familiar with the Hawaiian name : Mu = Big Eye Emperor / Big Eye Bream and yes they taste good where ever you get them LOL! Nice shot, I'd be happy landing that! Cheers for sharing the fun, Dive safe!

Out here in Hawaii, Mu are so hard to catch lol. They always seem to stay just out of range. I've managed to shoot a few 5 Ib'ers and the best trick I've been taught is to kick up the sand and hide your face
