Quick and Easy Caddis

We all like complicated good looking flies, but sometimes you just need a quick pattern that produces fish, and that's what this guy is! Tying a couple dozen in an hour is easy with this fly.

The following is a list of materials you will need to tie this fly:

Scud or emerger hook
Latex sheet
Black Dubbing (I prefer Australian opossum)
Marker (Option)
Black Nickel Bead

With a light latex, you could also use different color thread - for different color Caddis. The thread color should show through the latex. So instead of stopping at the top with the thread, use a colored thread to coat the hook down to the bend, then wrap your latex over the thread.

Nice, simple tie. Since the latex is translucent, how about coloring the first wrap of latex before over-wrapping? No need to coat with varnish...

Thanks for the video. What are you using for the latex? A rubber glove? Thanks again.

When would I fish this type of pattern? Summer, Fall, Spring? Also is this pattern useful for river/stream type water or Still water too?

What size do you normally use for the hook and bead?

But what if the fish is allergic to latex? I can see some real problems with conservation coming from this
