Minecraft days are shorter than real ones. The amount of time it takes in game *is realistic*, according to the length of a day in Minecraft.

Minecraft does not cook food faster, time just moves faster in Minecraft. They go through a 24 hour cycle in 20 minutes. If it takes 10 seconds to cook in game, that is 12 minutes in real world time, which is pretty slow when you are cooking it with a bucket of lava in a furnace.

Back in the day, I wanted to play with the Witchery mod on a public server so bad. But the one server I found with Witchery on it had mods that didn't let me mine stone with a wooden pickaxe, and didn't let me make infinite water sources. Also, crops got blighted a lot. And this was back before I was good at the base game, when I would hoard coal and mine all the coal I could find because I couldn't get very much of it. I also only used my iron axe to mine redstone and diamond (and higher tier modded ores) because I didn't realize that an iron axe would let me find more iron faster. I didn't know surface coal even existed. So yeah, that server sucked. And when I found a work around to the water problem with some dispensers, he modified the configs so we couldn't even move the water. Let's just say I never got to the point where I could build anything.

Dude it only takes a minute for a chicken to cook like when you're frying it and a furnace literally bakes and fried the thing so it won't take half an hour unless you're fully slow cooking the thing
