How America destroyed The World's Largest BattleShip Ever Built (Mighty Yamato Battleship)

During the Pacific war in 1945, Japanese sent it's Mighty Yamato Battleship on a suicide mission to attack the American fleet off Okinawa. The ship was over 860 feet long and weighed over 73,000 tons. However, the Mighty Yamato was heavily outnumbered and outgunned, and was attacked by hundreds of American aircraft and eventually sunk by a combination of bombs and torpedoes, taking with it over 3,000 crew members in just over 2 hours.

You forgot that the US Navy previously sank the Yamato's sister ship of the same class, the Musashi, several months earlier (1944) in the Battle of San Bernardino Strait, one of the component battles of the Battle of Leyte Gulf. The Musashi was also sunk the same way, with dive bombers and torpedo planes launched from US aircraft carriers.

The ship didn't weigh over 70k tons...that's the weight of the water that it displaced.

You know even ship like Yamato would be out gunned if you send about 400 planes to destroy only one ship 😂

What made the Bismarck so dangerous was its speed in the water and the accuracy of it's main guns.!

Because the failure in destroying the shipyards during the Pearl Harbor Attack, America was able to produce mass numbers of battleships backed by propaganda. So many ships that Japan knew they would never counter the various numbers. So they went with an old rule.

Quantity vs Quality.

Thus, the greatest battleship was birthed. Birthed too late.
