My First Time in JAKARTA (I Can't Believe This!) 🇮🇩

This is my first time in Indonesia, Jakarta! I'm really excited to be here and can't wait to explore this mega city!

If you're considering a trip to Indonesia, then be sure to check out the wonderful city of Jakarta! This hustling and bustling city is bursting with culture, architecture and luxury shopping. In this video, I'm sharing my first impressions of Jakarta and my first time in Indonesia, including my thoughts on the city, the huge modern shopping malls and the stark contrast of poverty in some areas.

I started my journey near the Jakarta's ASEAN MRT station that conveniently transports pedestrians all over this busy city.

Our quest today was to get to the National monument (MONAS), but I wasn't sure which station I should go to, but we figured it out a long the way.

The subway was quite cheap to purchase a ticket and was very modern and futuristic inside. I didn't see a single piece of rubbish anywhere! No homeless people either. It was quite pleasant and convenient.

Whilst riding the MRT I found out that the National monument is actually not open on a monday, but the journey must continue anyway!

After some slight confusion on the MRT, I decided to head outside and out onto the streets of Jakarta and walk the rest of the way to the Monument.

Upon the way I popped into a very luxurious shopping mall to cool down from the heat of the streets and utilise the AC inside the mall. It had so many high end designer brands. I got a bit lost inside, but eventually managed to found my way out and back onto the streets of Jakarta

Although the monument was closed on Mondays and headed back the next day to go inside of it and to the top. It was quite a long wait to be able to go to the top. It the view worth such a long wait? Well I'll let you be the judge of that.

After that I decided to head over the Istiqlal Mosque, ufortunately it was also closed on a monday.
Maybe I'll head over there another day.

The sky quickly started to become very dark, so I decided to order a Grab bike back to my hotel. The Fairmont Hotel.

It was quite lovely to get a quick tour of the city on the back of the grab bike and immerse myself deep into the Jakarta traffic.

After that a quick tour of my hotel which is called the Fairmont Hotel, quite a luxurious hotel but a little bit pricey, it did have a great location though right next to a gold course.

The hotel room that we stayed in was probably one of the best rooms I've ever stayed in. It was huge, and had two toilets!

I then ordered some lovely Indonesian pizza and donuts which were absolutely delicious!

Then down to the swimming pool to relax a bit, although there was a thunderstorm brewing in the distance. The pool area was very luxurious, it also had a wonderful jacuzzi as well.

If you're curious about Indonesia, or just want to see what all the hype is about, be sure to check out this Jakarta vlog! Jakarta is a fantastic city, and I can't wait to explore it more in the future!

We are from the UK. Just when we thought that we were the most advanced economies only to find out that other countries in Asia and around the world are competing with us for the top spot, and some have already passed us.

Indonesia is cleaner than Malaysia... look like the public sector is working hard.
I am Singaporean, I intend to visit when the Highspeed rail cover the rest of the island.
I kinda want to visit the new capital Nusantara first, to get some "before and after" picture...

In Jakarta, you won't find many tourists as it's a business city primarily inhabited by local workers. It's not like Bangkok, which is rich in various attractions such as cultural sites and abundant street food. However, visiting Jakarta is not a mistake because you'll discover new things and perhaps gain new knowledge about the city. Jakarta is often called a mini replica of Indonesia, as it hosts not only native residents but also people from all over the country, bringing their own cultures and cuisines. There's a variety of street food in Jakarta, with Nasi Goreng Kambing in Kebon Jeruk being one of the most famous. You can find foods from all over Indonesia in the city. I recommend trying Nasi Padang (with the famous Rendang, once voted the world's best dish), various soups from different regions (Soto Betawi, Soto Banjar, Coto Makassar, Sop Konro, and more), Martabak, Ayam Geprek, Bebek Goreng Madura, Mie Ayam, Satay, Nasi Goreng, JCO Donut, and many more.

If you want to get closer to Indonesian culture, visit "Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII)" where you'll find unique traditional houses from various regions. The native tribe in Jakarta is Betawi, known for their large puppets called Ondel-Ondel.

I'm not from Jakarta, but I can recommend some places to visit there: Kota Tua Jakarta, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), SCBD (Sudirman Central Business District), Senayan Park, ASTHA Mall, Central Park Mall, Sarinah Mall (the first mall in Indonesia with many Indonesian restaurants and batik shops), Ancol, Speed Train Jakarta - Bandung and more.

If you want to experience strong Indonesian culture, visit Yogyakarta, where you'll find the world's largest temple. For beautiful beaches and nature, go to Bali and Labuan Bajo (Komodo Island, Pink Beach, Phinisi boats). Indonesia is abundant in natural wonders with over 17, 500 islands to explore.

Indonesia is a safe and friendly country. You don't need to worry while you're here, but it's always important to stay cautious.
ENJOY IN INDONESIA. 👋
