Worst & Best Ways To Handle Angry Customers

Worst way vs best way to handle and angry customer.

Worst:
Taking the complaint personally, even if it is something ridiculous. When the customer raises their voice, you match their energy. It'll turn a small issue into a big one, trust me.

Best:
Hear them out, no matter what the issue is. Stay calm and be empathetic with what is upsetting them.

Even if they had a poor experience with your product, if the customer service is exceptional they will be back.

Just trust me on that.

Great advice in many situations, but customers do not have the right to berate, belittle, and abuse you.

This guy is a genius. It is so hard to just take offensive behavior but you have to listen to understand why they are so upset. Love this guy

that doesn’t mean you should let them disrespect you and make them feel like it’s acceptable to throw a fit at a restaurant. some people can’t be reasoned with and need to leave in those situations

Good tip. Sometimes all they want you to do is listen.

Great advice. I’m a contractor and I have to do this once in awhile. I usually end up getting more work with them, once I hear them out.

This is why I was a cook and not a server. I couldn’t take the disrespect people give out even if the servers made twice as much as I made

That being said, there are limits to what a person can take.

So true, I wish more people have that attitude

Listen until they are done talking. Understand their frustration. Ask them "how can I fix this?" This works almost 100% of the time

100%. Sometimes, you have to, try to help them. Listening and talking to the customer, might change their thinking. Thank you for your service. G

This is something I’m working on. I recently done my bar managers license and will soon be running my own pub on my own. I still get quite angry with rude customers, maybe it’s cos I’m still young and a bit hotheaded lol but I’m actively working on it

Unfortunately the customer is not always right especially today with so much entitlement.

You have to listen to what a person means and not always just the words. Many people get frustrated and many can't communicate well. Doesn't mean they're not worth listening to

Great advice and yes, I have done that with a lot of angry customers-in the retail store but in my mind, I’m drowning them in a in the lake full of water 💦 well I’m smiling at them and saying how can I help you and make this problem agreeable to the both of us!

Chef, do a video on some complaints that are ridiculous

It's good and all, but choose your battles. If I had customers that were being complete a-holes to my staff for little to no reason, that shii won't fly with me.

Could be a small percentage of the complaint that is the core issue. Active listening can help find the core issue.
