Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland, Australia, about 45kms north of Brisbane - the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online, so come along with me and let's get into it! Cheers, Mark :)

Have you ever cultivated purslane? I saw this plant growing in my garden and didn’t know what it was. Decided to identify it before pulling it out. To my surprise it is a highly nutritious native species “common purslane”. It’s extremely easy to grow and has some beautiful yellow flowers.

You got a like because of the laughter and the warm fuzzy. The laughter: …”big fat head” reminded me of a sibling.😂
The warm fuzzy: The honey bee foraging. 😊

I've always wondered why YouTube notifies me of short videos days late.
I've started to believe it's so YouTube can use it as a starting video and hook me on watching a string of short videos and before I know it an hour has gone by.
