Asian cabbage are the ones that are squat, flat on top and bottom, rather than the ball-shaped ones. You can find them at most Asian stores. They taste better, but you can use regular cabbage for this recipe as well.

It's the first dish I ever cooked myself! a little trick I learn is to get a deeper, smokey flavor out of the fish sauce you need to drizzle it into the side of the wok instead of directly into the cabbages

You can also add in reconstituted dried shrimp. Add in a little curry paste and you have something almost divine.

we have this in the philippines but we add onions and left over fried fish. we just take the meat off the fish from the bone and tore it into small pieces

I just made this, and it's very good. Sometimes, I just like the onions and garlic with salt 🧂 as garlic salt with fresh squid 🐙 😮😊

This is staple in our kitchen! My husband will sometimes sprinkle a little bit of mixed herbs, since he love mixed herbs. Toss it a few more times and serve hot.

This humble dish is also taste good with salt too.. Instead of cabbage, I tried it broccoli too.. I just steam it for 10 minutes before stirfrying it... Same recipe applies for any kind of green beans, snap peas or whatever same catagory vegetables.. Steam it for some time depending on your liking before stirfrying it.. A quick, healthy, light side dish can save you a lot of time in the kitchen..

I used to do this with broccoli instead of cabbage. I’d also add red pepper flakes. It was heaven!

What would mean "good" fish sauce? Do you have recommendations? I usually use the squid brand fish sauce but I've thought about changing it up.

Ever since I was little, my dad would cook this for us when my mom was too busy to cook dinner. Sometimes, he would render the fat out of bacon or pork belly and then add the garlic and cabbage. It is so good. But I swear, it is not complete without black pepper.

In the east we sometimes put cut-up-dried squid or dried shrimps in as well. Gives it that umami!

Cut the cabbage, then use your hands to crush them before lightly frying. Lightly season with salt, no soysauce. Tastes more flavorful and sweet. Try it 😊
