Budget Action Cameras STOP LYING in 2024 | SVBONY Act 20 Review

Today I'm reviewing an action camera from SVBONY, the Act 20. Now I'm going to talk about fake 4K in 2024 and I really wish companies would disclose on their listings that the 4K is actually interpolated 4K from a lower resolution. I was really torn about this review, because if they were upfront with disclosing that, I might have been more favorable in regards to my views on this camera.
For $99 is not a bad deal as the camera actually has a good build quality to it, good audio, stabilization is a bit jerky IMO but that fake 4K kind of ruined it for me, but for those on a budget, this "might" be a good alternative to spending 3-4 times the amount. Hopefully these side by side samples helped in your decision making process.

I bought my SJ8 PRO, and your reviews about it helped me decide. True 4K, amazing image quality, I don't regret it a day. I also have a DJI Action 4, and the SJ8 Pro is very close in terms of image quality. They don't make budget cameras like they used to.

Andre, I am with you. Action cam companies should be truthful so consumers can decide what exactly they want and what they want to pay for. This cam could fit some users needs.

Very little point in budget action cams anymore when a phone camera will out do them. I will never understand how that Sony X3000 has such amazing sound quality that, even now my Insta One RS cannot match it.

Glad to see that fig tree hasn’t given up! But I think I’ll pass on this one. I’ll stick with th GoPro 10 not great but I’m sticking with the Iphone 15 Pro. The more I use it the less I use the GoPro. 10. But I keep the GO2 handy. It’s fun. Thx for being honest on this one 👍

I got to say the Akaso brave 7le does indeed shoot native 4k and I looks relatively well but what I just found out was that it now supports the Akaso usb type c external microphone

I recently tried out a used Garmin VIRB Ultra 30 and was surprised at how well the footage held up and even more surprised at how many resolution and frame rate options are available depending on the settings.

I don't know if any budget or even expensive action cams have as many resolution and frame rate combinations, I'd hope they do. But I'm confident despite how old this action cam is and the fact it's discontinued, the footage isn't outdated which is a shame considering the camera is 8 years old.

As seen and mentioned 4K is not good, also EIS was not that great either. However i am still impressed with the DBPOWER D5. I remember watching your review back then and tried to find one online. No such luck and was never able to buy one sadly. Strange how they discontinued a budget camera that was so good. All in all a great review and comparison Andre 👍.

These cameras are selling for $140 that is insane. Within the last month DJI and Insta360 had cameras on sale near $200 that are way better. Not sure why people would buy these when several times a year they offer last year models from the flagship brands cheap enough to cost near as much as these poor quality budget brands.

It's a shame... the audio from the SVBONY is actually quite decent when there's no wind blowing. The video is definitely an upscaled 1080p with sharpening, and looks horrible; especially for 160 bucks 🤯

I tried to go with something budget...I just could not find something good enough, I ended up getting a GoPro
