All the footage I've ever taken has been on the Hero 9. It's 100% the most glitching electronic device I've ever used. It's taken some great footage, but there hasn't been a single trip where I haven't thought of smashing it to bits. Thanks for the video man.

When I got back into flying as a Private Pilot in 2017 after a 15 year hiatus, I purchased 2 Chinese knock-off GoPro's to mount inside and outside the aircraft to capture my wife and my adventures. I think one was 1080p and the other was $45 and 2.7K. I never lost a second of footage, never had them freeze or turn off due to heat or firmware issues. I did all the stabilization in Premier Pro and that was always good enough. Then I decided to splurge and picked up a GoPro Hero 5 Black and Hero 6 Black to enjoy the 4K footage. Looking back I wish I had just run out into moving-traffic, or poured Ghost pepper sauce in my eyes instead. There was seldom a day where they worked flawlessly and many days when they both froze, or turned off unexpectedly for no reason. I think the President of the company was a huckster and was just making a cash and stock grab until he could sell off this albatross. I fly 11 different DJI Drones commercially along with 3 Autel EVO Pro Drones and they are both rock solid companies and I have never had an issue with over 1, 160 operations under my belt. The quality control at GoPro is virtually non-existent.

I owned GoPro 3, 4 and 5. I stopped buying them after that. This year, I bought Hero 11 hoping that six models later it would be better. And it is far beyond what i had expected, . Such an amazing camera, hasn't had a glitch, love the auto upload feature to the cloud when charging, stabilization is breathtaking, video quality is great. No complaints from me, Literally none.

My Hero 5 Session is still running solid. It’s never crashed. But my Hero 10 Black on the other hand… sometimes it freezes and once it corrupted a bunch of data (maybe it was a dodgy sd card?). Anyway, I still love the cameras for vlogging. I’d like to see them work on reliability though.

In defense of gopro the danny black video he made an update later on saying he didn't know there was an update for the camera and after he updated it the overheat improved a lot

Hero 8 was a mess and I moved to DJI. Really appreciate you putting this video together to confirm things have not changed. I'll stay away until they fix the freezing/footage losing issues.

I abandoned GoPro for DJI when the Osmo Action was released. I was sick of GoPro not working and losing footage. The DJI (I have two) are still going strong 4 years later. I kept my Hero 5 Session though as an additional / spare camera and ironically enough it's been far more reliable than all the other larger GoPros I've had.

All the GoPro footage I have ever used has decided to date itself the same date and time.. I’m not sure how I can explain how painful that is, it will take me literally years to get this back to some sort of linear order.

The Mini 11 is pretty ingenious -- now you can't tell if your footage is lost until you get back home

what I basically learned by owning about 6 different generations of gopros is that when they first launch their firmware is very glitchy for a few months, so after the hero 10 i decided not to purchase any model at launch. the 10 was corrupting my videos on a fast microsd card, but now they fixed that. other than that they're great for adventure videos, outdoor sports, scubadiving etc. not so great for indoor static videos over long periods since such a small camera needs proper airflow to stay cool. I hope they fix some of the issues with the hero 12 black. they could also add at least a 2x or 3x optical zoom that can be controlled through dedicated buttons, not just the screen.

GoPro share price really says it all, once $96 they are going for $0. Maybe the best version was Hero 3 that had the audio sorted out but the glitching, and camera freeze problems seemed to get worse as the generations went on. Add to that the lack of backwards compatibility being designed into the brand and the stupid high prices it's RIP GoPro.

Oh, I know the feeling. Shooting clips in a once in a lifetime moment and the thing stops recording all of a sudden or indicated it was recording and nothing was on the card or system memory. Many, many times I was just "enough" of this. I bought an SJ4000 years ago and it still works well. I had a freeze with one of the GoPro water versions. And I don't use it during anything with water. And it freezes once in a while. You can't tell until you review it later. I'm with you on this.

My biggest problem with GoPro was how they are kind of putting a price on everything. You have to buy a camera, which isn’t actually a ton of money. But then, you need mounts, which are ridiculously expensive. And, if you want to edit your footage, you have to buy some subscription for their app, otherwise you are left with the most basic controls there are. You cant’t even control the slow motion in a video without it. If you do use the free version of the app, it is filled with ads for their subscription

how is my gopro hero 9 never over heat, i have accidently had it one for 2 days straight and no over heating issues, yes it got hot but never over heated

A lot of crashes and freezing I found with mine were due to a slow memory card. Faster card and removed most issues.

I said as soon as GoPro announced they were going public that it would be the end . Once you have to appease the share holders and profits are all that counts, quality and innovation go out the window

I have had a Hero 9 for 18 months and can honestly say it has not let me down once. Most recently I used it during a 2 week holiday in South Africa and it was superb. Love mine.

Good information. The one thing that no one ever seems to focus on is its inability to handle low-light conditions. Even when there is ambient light, the image just sucks.

I still have and love my Hero 8! For 3 years straight in extreme hot weather conditions, underwater with no cage, it never ever let me down. It froze one time in extreme cold but who cares. It's a beast! I now pair it with a Canon M200 with 2 Canon lenses and I couldn't ask for more for what I do.

Arguably one of the biggest complaints I hear is around the audio adapter. Since they removed the dedicated jack, they have had a horribly bulky and troublesome solution. DJI almost won the battle with their adaptor, but sadly they don’t offer gain control so quite often the audio was completely blown out.
