I have shopped Aldi since they opened in my city in 1996. I live by my motto... If Aldi don't have it, I don't need it!!

I absolutely love Aldi. Their produce is fresh and they have organic produce as well. I love their Fit & Active line, and their chocolates and wines are great. And I have saved tons of money over the years by shopping there. They have gone up in price due to inflation, but they are still 30 to 40 percent cheaper than Walmart or other grocery stores, at least in my area. I do my main shopping at Aldi, and if they don't have a product I need, I'll just go to another grocery store for that. But usually, Aldi has most everything I need. My favorite thing at Aldi is definitely their chocolates.

Aldi is my absolute favorite store (of any kind). I go there at least 3 times a week. I always check the AldiFinds section. I even have an Aldi quarter holder that attaches to my key ring so I always have cart money. I love the idea of renting your cart. I also love the no-nonsense way the cashier’s hustle you through the line. And ALDIs house brands are just as good as national brands. I must admit that I’m a longtime fan because my grandma was German and we would go there to get certain German delights only available there. My grandma is long since passed but I still but lots of the German delights and have passed that on to my kids and now my own grandkids.

The 25c "fee" to borrow a cart is more psychological than anything else. It tends to encourage people to put the carts back rather than abandon them in the parking lot. My favorite ALDI product here in the US is their bacon wrapped steaks. Two small steaks for $5. Probably about right for the recommended portion size of meat: 4 ounces. It is very tasty and would form a good component of a dinner of, say, steak, baked potato, broccoli w/ cheese or butter, corn-on-the-cob and a dessert. Coincidentally, all of this can be bought at ALDI. And yes, I knew about Trader Joe's; I had heard about and shopped there years before I had discovered ALDI.

My wife and I used to shop at Aldi every week, especially when our kids were still young and living at home. However, within the last 10 years or so, our local store has replaced about 1/3 of the actual groceries (a.k.a. food) with things like throw rugs, exercise equipment and outdoor furniture, among other crap. Also, the inventory is extremely hit and miss. You might find and buy a product that you really like one week but, it's no longer available the following week. We still shop there sometimes but definitely not weekly like we used to!

I've been shopping at Aldi's for many years now and really like a lot of what they offer. Is everything great, no. I have found some things that just don't taste right or I didn't like; but that's the same no matter where you shop. I especially like their Deutche Kuchen line of foods, even more so during Christmas. As they import a lot of German products under that name. Brings back very fond memories of the time I lived in Germany.

I'm sorry, but hearing Essen being called a "small town" made me snort. Even back when Anna Albrecht opened her store, Essen already had over 200.000 inhabitants, nowadays it has more than 550.000

I have no problem paying for a cart. It keeps most of the carts out of the parking lot where they can damage the cars.

Love everything about Aldi and I've found their private labels to be superior to name brands in many cases. I had no idea about Trader Joe's. Wow!

Small town „Essen“ with 600, 000 people, really tiny village.

Here's another interesting fact. The cashiers are allowed to sit while checking out customers, sitting speeds up the process versus standing..🤔 Aldi and Lidl aren't related..The shopping cart experience is a gamechanger for positive reasons..The only thing missing is self checkout..The candles are my essential purchases..

Love Aldi's the quality, prices etc. All great. The quarter for shopping carts is brilliant. And for people who leave their carts in the parking lot there will always be someone willing to pick them up. Gotta say I love their Meatballs and Tikka Masala. And those two go great together.

I've only been to Aldi once, but I really like the chocolates they have. So good!

My biggest gripe about Aldi is the long lines because there's usually only 1 checkout open. And nearly everyone has full shopping carts.

Little known fact about Aldi…they are the most consistent in terms of making food available to the homeless and treating them with respect. Personal experience: Church is a state of mind.

We have one in my small, Indiana town. And two more in nearby towns. I didn't understand it at first, but have come to enjoy it. Many unique, quality products. Frustrating that things come and disappear regularly. So, if there's something you really like, you need to buy all of it while you are there. Looking for the sparkling grapefruit agave drink mixer!!! PLEASE!!! Bring it back!

ALDI has changed a lot since the 1960s. Back then, they just got a limited assortment of food items for extremely cheap prices. Nowadays you can see more and more non food products like clothes, electronics etc. And: not everything offered at ALDI is cheap right now, so, never forget to compare ! Greets from Germany, U.

Pay to rent shopping carts are common, some Shop Rite's (which just gave it up) Costco and others. Not an Alde lover, but the savings are significant. Trader Joes is more upscale and decent prices. In Germany some niche products in Aldi Nord carry the Trader Joe's name. In the end, if you need the basics and snacks, Aldi is a game changer. Only go to local markets to get whipped butter in a tub (they don't carry it) meat. some cold cuts. ice cream and stuff on sale. FWIW in the past lived in Germany for three years.

The fact that Trader Joe's is Aldi North also resulted in some american products getting back here into Germany ^^
Also: often enough "Aldi brand" items are just "BIG BRAND" items with a new label. Especially here in Germany where their dairy products are famous to actually come from one of the biggest dairy producers in the country. So I wouldn't be surprised iof it is the same in other countries.
