PD Simplified : Consumables | Motorcycle Parts That Need To Be Replaced Periodically

preview_player
Показать описание
Consumables are commodities that are intended to be used up. These include the basics like fuel, oils, brake pads, etc. and also mechanical components like valves, o-rings, pistons, and more. Some of these things are consumed in a short period while others take years. Nonetheless, all consumables need to be replaced when they are at the end of their life if you want to keep your motorcycle in top shape. Shumi simplifies what consumables are, how they get used up, and what needs to be done.

Love this series ❤️ Please don't hesitate to go in-depth on these topics. I feel the people watching this are really passionate about their machines and would love to know more. Thanks for teaching us Shumi 🙏

You can make a video on valve clearance. KTM recommends to do it every 15K Kms, which I think most people don't - even the service centres don't encourage it because of how complex the job is.
It would be nice to know what would happen if it's not done at the required time, as in the worst case.

I feel Battery can also be added to the consumables

My dad has a 2014 Pulsar 150 which has clocked almost 2.5 lakh kms. The piston, valves, timing chain, head cover all have been changed. The clutch plates have been changed twice now. After this complete restoration, we found out that the carburettor needs a change. Once done, the motorcycle would feel and ride like a new machine. Rebuilding is totally worth it.

I was having this overconsumed issue with my 8 years old avenger. I have drove around 60k km, and after such prolonged use my bike was having several issues. I got my piston, time-chain, and few gears changed, ; now my bike feels new like. Still getting mileage around 35kmpl, bike easily cruises at 100kmph. It's just great again.
Also, listening to Shumi is such bliss. All riders listening to Shumi need not to learn from their mistakes, he's covered you with his experience.

I’m surprised there is no mention of chain lube/sprocket…. For me personally after petrol this is the most important part…. Should be checked after every 500-700 KMs….

It would help, if you made a video for pillion passengers too. Alot of them want to share the bike space with their loved one riding. But don't know how to sit in a comfortable way for themselves and the rider.

Everything you said makes sense if someone is interested in riding or driving for pleasure or safety for themselves and other road users.

I guess the simplified is the best episodes to watch then reviews, bike cars comes and goes but, teaches how to maintain them, how to study your own ride and bond with good memories

Should I disable the notification? I leave everything in hand and watch your video as soon as I get the notification. Do you know any deaddiction centre?

Hey,
Love this series, can you guys make a video about hi-flow air filters. The pros and the cons and weather or not they are a good and useful upgrade/modification for the motorcycle.
Thanks.

Hi Shumi. Is it a nice idea to keep my Fzs 150, which I bought in 2010(still running ok) for the next few years. This came to my mind because my last 3 services costings are up due to the consumables you mentioned. I am facing an issue now with electronics and cables as well. Please advise. If you can make a video.. That would be great.

Hi, now that most of the basics have already been covered in other episodes, would like to see something on gearboxes, gear ratios(and maybe how the power is delivered through the sprocket & chain) and how they differ in different classes of bikes, Cheers!
