How To Partition of External Hard Drive without Formatting in Windows 10
Показать описание
To Create Partition of External Hard Drive without Formatting in Windows 10, follow these simple steps:
First of all, search for “Disk Management” and then open the first search result which would be “Create and format hard disk partitions”.
In the opening window, you can see two rows one with a title of “Disk 0” and the next one with “Disk 1”. The Disk0 is the drives in your computer and the Disk 1 is the external hard drive.
Towards the Disk 1, you can see the primary partition of the external hard drive with the full storage. Now, to create new partitions you have to take out some storage from the primary partition. To do so, right click on the primary partition with the full storage and click “Shrink”. In the next window, enter the volume you want to take out from the total storage capacity. In this video, I have 1 TB External Hard drive and I would like to create 2 new partitions of 300GB each after giving around 400 GB to the primary partition. So, I entered there 600 GB. (Please note that, we have to enter the same in MB format). Then click “Shrink”.
Now, you can see the shrank volume of 600 GB with a label of “Unallocated”.
Now, right click on the Unallocated storage volume, click “New Simple Volume”. In the opening window, click ‘next’ then enter the size of the first partition you are going to create. Then click next and change the assigned letter of the new partition if you think so and click “next”. Then, in the next window, select the option to “Format the new volume” and remove the default volume label if you think so, click ‘next’ and in the next window, click “Finish”. Now, you have created a new partition.
Now, once again, right click on the remaining “Unallocated” Volume, and click ‘New Simple Volume’. Click ‘Next’. Enter the volume of next partition to create. If you want to create only one more partition leave the figure there as it is. Then click next and change the assigned letter of the new partition if you think so and click “next”. Then, in the next window, select the option to “Format the new volume” and remove the default volume label if you think so, click ‘next’ and in the next window, click “Finish”. Congratulation…!! You have done it..!!
