My favourite tip of all is to learn to respec in Grim Dawn if you need too. It costs very little and is easy to do and allows you to try out new builds for your masteries.

1. dont farm early into the game, go throught the next chapter! you will progress better if you do the main quest.
2. dont be afraid to experiment/use your new found items, there is respec for almost all.

My top tip for new players: When you put points into a skill, check whether the skill is entirely passive - no further action required; an action skill - needs to be added to skill bar/button and USED to get any benefit; a toggle skill - needs to be added to skill bar/button and toggled ON to get any benefit from it. Next tip would be use one skill bar for toggle skills, the other for action skills, to keep them apart and to prevent accidentally toggling a skill off by mistake.

I have two tips: 1) you can put both a component and an augment on your gear 2) if you dual wield you can put aura components on both of the weapons and activate them both. You can also get 2 copies of the slam skill this way.

I really like that you pointed out the number 5 tip. That one is the life changer. I personally would consider The Crucible is the essential DLC, as it helps to get familiar preparing with waves of monsters.

Before getting The Crucible, I had struggled with new characters. I had about 130 hours playtime. After purchased The Crucible DLC ㄧ addition new 330 hours playtime. It's that great

Each of the masteries has several different spammable (ie no cool down) skill lines, although sometimes you need a modifier. It is a good idea to select one of these for your main left button skill and then select support skills that synergise with its damage type. For instance, if you choose a spammable that does mainly lightning damage, look for support skills and equipment that have multipliers for that. Also certain masteries work particularly well together when they both have skills in the same damage type.

Excellent video and truly brilliant tips - The Crucible was something that I skipped on my first playthrough. Definitely did not skip it this time - it literally makes the start of the game so much better and really helps you test your build before you take it on the road...

I did not know about no.5! I have watched players do fresh starts but none have actually used the crucible to get devotions. Excellent tip, thank you very much!

If you have finished the first 2 difficulties and dont want to farm for ever, use GD Stash and play ultimate. Farmers can enjoy killing over and over.

new players dont respec to much at the start, I didnt notice that the price ramps up and now I am stuck with a crappy build until I can get some bits back.

What is the second ability you are using 0:01 into the vid, the lunge attack ?
Edit: It's an augment, applied to medals only that give mobility skills only found in the FG expansion. Based on it's color, it looks like "Emblem of Korvan Swiftness", the leap ability.

My five tips would be:
1. Explore the map fully. There are so many hidden troves and areas, and unlike other ARPGs, the map doesn't reset, so it has a sense of progress.

2. When starting out (I'm personally in the camp that the only reason to do a crucible start is if you want to do HC vet on your character, and even then I wouldnt waste the time lol) click the corpse at the end of the bridge leaving town to get potions.

3. See a totem, click a totem, even if you have to travel a bit (but dont waste too much time chasing it down)

4. Dont play vet. It's not worth it.

5. Wait to choose your second mastery until you know what kind of playstyle you're going for.

Hey! I've recently stumbled onto your vids and these tips & tricks are fantastic, so thanks for putting them together! I'm a bit confused on the Crucible though - I tried making a new character and doing the crucible 5 times, however the bad guys ground me to dust so I died rapidly every time and never saw a single tribute - could you elaborate on this "doing crucible 5 times and turning in tributes" a bit more because I think I've missed something, like where I get tributes or do you have to win the crucible or something? thanks!

Really wish i had remembered this game before spending 60 dollars on diablo prime evil collection, could of bought this for 10 dollars and got way more for my money.
