"Every game needs a gimmick"? Why though? Honestly some of these features aughta just be mainstays. Rather than Gamefreak just ditching old gimmicks and making new ones, they should be expanding on what they have. I feel like this mentality is causing tons of issues making the series stagnant.

Megas are the worst loss, in my eyes. They design dozens of new burst modes, locking lines into their current amount of evolutions, then completely remove them? That'd just stupid. The reason they got rid of them (overpowered-ness) is their fault, because they're the ones who chose to A) give the already strong Pokemon the forms and B) make the forms so much stronger.

1:10 In Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 Unova's New Pokédex has "Habitat"-Mode, what was working similarly as DexNav, but it only shows areas and Pokémons of all routes what can be found on any route. It shows areas' Pokémons only after when player have been seeing least one pokémon in area and then if there is something else the player hasn't seen (no Pokéball icon), if the player has seen everything but doesn't own all (with the silver Pokéball icon) and the Pokémon on that route have been seen and captured (with the gold Pokéball icon). I like DexNav too, but someway it's a pretty overpowering feature, in my opinion. If there would be least that "Habitat-kind"-mode in Pokédex in every game from now on, I'm happy :) .

It's understandable why this particular feature has come to the Hoenn area in the first place, as Professor Birch researches those habitat stuff.
