What I Bring On My Sled for the Iditarod

We are getting so close to the start of the race! As we make sure that we have all that we need and get ready to mush, I wanted to show you a behind the scenes look at what a musher needs to bring on his sled. Each musher has a different list of things they like to have but there are some items that are mandatory for all participants in the race. Who is tuning in for the start? #iditarod #iditarod2021 #alaska #mushing #sleddogs

I remember the old days when Susan Butcher and Rick Swenson used to have to break trail through waist-deep snow and it took around 2-3 weeks to make the trek. It was more In line with how the original serum run was done. Now days is seems the trail is packed down for them by snow machines and many other new technical advantages and it now only takes around a week to make the trek. Don't get me wrong, I am sure it is still brutal having to push yourself and dogs to the limit and you have to face the same weather conditions but the race is not like it was 30-years ago, or more. Having said all that, I still like to see the race and give credit to those who give it their all to make the journey.

Thank you for taking the time to share this. I know very little about your sport, other than I really enjoy watching the Iditarod. This video helps me and probably many other's understand a little more about sledding. You answered several questions I've had in these few minutes. 👍Happy trails!!! Roger

Very cool, thanks a lot. How calm can one person be to shoot a video right before a 1000 mile race? Don´t ask me, ask Dallas!

Cheers and happy trails

Curious what brand of dog booties you use? I can't get my dog to keep booties on for the life of me...they fly in 4 different directions when she runs. We don't mush, but we do winter hike and I'd love her to have more protection than Musher's Secret.

What about the dogs that suffer? This sport has no good cause and should be banned
