Fun fact, my grandads dad built the steam boilers for both the terror and the erebus. And i have a tool chest made from the over cuts of the terrors hull. Okay, peace ✌️

The most amazing part is something that pop culture will never include in this story. They could have discovered the expedition earlier bother didn’t bother asking the Inuit. Because their oral tradition was so well kept the ancestors of those Inuit people still knew where the ships and graves were 150 years later.

At the time of the Franklin expedition canning food was a relatively new technology. Electric seam welding of the cans had not been invented yet so the seams where soldered using lead solder which leached into the food causing the lead poisoning.

Ciaran Hinds is such an underrated actor. That dude has killed it in every single thing I've seen him in. From filling up the screen in HBO's Rome 'HE WAS A CONSUL OF ROME!' to his super understated performance in There Will Be Blood, dude is just amazing.

God bless the people who've gone before us to explore and map the Earth. Most dont understand the hell that they went through. I know it wasnt ALL terrible but probably, mostly. I dont fully understand myself. But deserves great respect. One of those - "Had to of been there." kinda things. Some brave and courageous humans for many years. Reminds me to greatly appreciate where we are now and what we often take for granted.

Up until the 1900 the British navy handbook had a chapter on how to select, kill and cook members of the crew when food ran out, ,, it was called "the ritual of the deep"

I watched this series a couple years ago before it hit streaming platforms. I told people about it and they didn’t know what I was talking about but All I’ll say is it’s an incredible show.

The show is amazing. You should watch it. The sheer vastness of their surroundings in the middle of nowhere in a time where you have nothing to call for help.
Such a good show.
