Analogue Pocket Review

The Analogue Pocket solves the limitations of Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, and other handhelds of yore, and it does so with a familiar but distinct style you don't find with emulation-based solutions. It's the best possible way to enjoy your handheld gaming collection.

Can we just give credit to the reviewer, his enthusiasm is unmatched.

For comparison's sake:
Switch OLED ppi = 210
iPhone 13 ppi = 460
Analogue Pocket ppi = 615

They should've raised the volume buttons or indented the power button in order to make the feel of each noticeable.

I've yet to see a gaming youtuber that doesn't mention they have large hands

This is a device for the same kind of people who bought Analogue's NES and SNES systems. Getting the best possible quality with 100% compatibility and minimum input lag (though I'd like to see some testing on the Pocket's input lag more than "It feels fine to me", which means literally nothing).

The best/worst part of this review is reading the comments here and see how they compare to those in Digital Foundry, MVG, My Life In Gaming and other more technical channels. Definitely two different "demographic groups".

Honestly, I'd rather get this than those other retro emulator consoles. FPGA is the best emulator. Hardware emulation all the way! Plus this has a dock which can output to a monitor/tv with glorious quality.

220$ is pretty reasonable considering people wanting to sell their normal gameboys for $100 alone

Let's be real here, people buying this will definitely have old cartridges, but emulation with ROMs is going to be the first thing figured out with this device. If not, I'm sure it's going to disappoint a lot of people

Very interesting about the save states. A lot of folks have been saying that isn’t yet possible.

Analogue: “we made a product for handheld gaming purists, getting as close to the real thing as possible, while also improving certain specs” Comment section: “but you can play games on cell phones”.

Too many casual gamers here with their "just get a cellphone and emulator" comments versus not comprehending that this device is NOT for them but for the people who have physical cartridges or want to own physical cartridges and play them.

Watching Snyder's Cut in the hardware it's intended

So how long does the battery last? what kind of audio are we dealing with? Why did you not show the process of physically inserting games into the console? And why would this be superior to my old gameboy sp?

$220 +$99 for the dock plus $30 for each cartridge adapter. So $440 to play all retro games you want. I'll pass but it's neat and has a beautiful design.

As someone with a large collection of GB, GBC, GBA games and wanting to play on TV... this seemed perfect. But the current price approaches 500 USD in some places! The video mentions a 219 USD so I'll keep an eye out.

This comment section be like: "Durr you can just download the games on your phone!" It seems your missing the point of this device entirely.
