The Analogue Pocket had a ton of hype among retro and handheld gaming enthusiasts around the time of its release, but is the console still viable in 2024? Let's take a look.

Just bought one in 2025. Its honestly cheaper than a modded GBA and has way more features. The link cable port alone is a huge selling point for me. what's not to love? I can play Mario kart and trade Pokémon with my kid. that's pretty awesome.

The screen being the only screen on the market to reach 616ppi is incredible in itself. The buttons are responsive and the sound awesome. Plays all gba, gbc, and gb games with the option to use the SD card for laser precise emulation on what it plays. Overall a real premium device for any retro gamer supporting both cartridges and emulation. No device on the market can provide that. I have the red cherry Starburst version 😆. I also have the rg405 m. When it come to accurate emulation the pocket wins hands down.

What a beautifully made video. Really enjoyed that. With shipping, taxes and import duty on top of a poor currency exchange rate, I'm still finding this console to be out of my budget here in the UK. It is a very nice looking console though.

How did you get Castlevania: Bloodlines ( 0:44 ) playing on there? I only know if it being released on genesis and then in the Castlevania Collection.

i'm keeping my Pocket (and dock) for the rest of my days because I do not feel like shelling out thousands of $$$ to play the SNES, GB, GBC, and GBA games that I love and have yet to play. It is most definitely worth it, I can play 2D retro Mario and Sonic as well, all on the same device. Not to mention, fan translations and rom hacks work like real games, which is another plus to this thing. It feels like something official in my hands, and I can use different controllers with an 8BitDo bluetooth receiver (I use my WiiMote with an SNES Classic controller, EU Edition for the colored buttons) I would say yes, this is totally worth it, for any retro gaming enthusiast out there. China will eventually catch up with the FPGA trend, but for now the Analogue Pocket is a pretty unique option.

Yes! Great video! Such a great combination of portable/dockable rock-solid multi-system execution and emulation. No complaint, and my favorite “console” ever. So glad I preordered this thing sight-unseen, before there were even any reviews. It was a gamble, but really paid off. 🙏

Came here after seeing your Gamecube Controller video and checking out your channel. Coincidentally, I've been jonesing for an Analogue Pocket (or similar faux-retro console) for years now and glad to see the input from someone so like-minded about the NGC controller.
Edit: holy SHIT those "button indication animations" are smooth as hell. Are those yours?!
